What to put on the quote
- The pest identified, where activity was found and the areas treated (interior, perimeter, attic, crawl space).
- Method in plain terms (baits, perimeter spray, liquid termite barrier, traps), applied by a licensed technician.
- How many follow-up visits are included and what a callback between scheduled visits costs.
- What the customer does before and after: empty cabinets, move pets and fish tanks, stay out for a set time.
- Warranty length, what it covers (retreatment or damage repair) and the yearly renewal fee for termites.
Common mistakes
- Quoting one spray for German cockroaches when breaking the breeding cycle takes two or three visits.
- Giving a termite warranty without saying it covers retreatment only, not repairs.
- Not writing down the prep list, so the treatment underperforms and the callback is on you.
- Bundling the service plan into the first invoice, so the customer feels locked in and cancels everything.
Deposit, balance and validity
The initial treatment is paid on the day; quarterly plans are billed per visit and can be cancelled with 30 days notice after the first year. Termite work takes a 50% deposit to book, with the balance on completion and the annual warranty renewal quoted separately. Quote valid for 30 days.
Questions people ask
Do I need to leave the house?
Not for perimeter or bait treatments. For a full interior spray, plan to be out with pets for 2–4 hours; the exact time and prep list are written on the quote.
Why is there a follow-up visit?
Eggs survive the first treatment. The follow-up catches the next hatch before it breeds again.
What does the termite warranty cover?
Retreatment if termites return to the treated area during the warranty period. Whether damage repair is covered is a separate question, and the quote says which applies.
