Flooring Estimate Template
Flooring bids get compared on the price per square foot of the plank, but the job is decided underneath it. Show removal, subfloor prep and underlayment as their own lines, add the waste allowance for the layout, and the client will see what a cheaper bid skipped.

What to put on the quote
- Measured area per room and the waste allowance (more for diagonal or herringbone layouts).
- Floor product: type, brand, wear layer or thickness, and who buys it.
- Subfloor condition found at the visit and the moisture reading on concrete.
- What happens to baseboards, door casings and appliances, and whether moving furniture is included.
- Acclimation days before install, and the manufacturer warranty versus your installation warranty.
Common mistakes
- Laying a floating floor over a subfloor that dips, then getting callbacks for clicking and gaps.
- Forgetting the doors that must be trimmed once the new floor sits higher.
- Skipping the moisture reading on a slab and voiding the plank warranty.
Deposit, balance and validity
Material is ordered once a 30–50% deposit is paid; the balance is due when the floor is installed and walked through. Leveling beyond the estimated area is billed at the per sq ft rate shown. Estimate valid for 30 days.
Questions people ask
Can the new floor go over my old one?
Floating floors can often go over sound, flat vinyl or tile; carpet always comes up. The estimate says which method is used.
Do I need to empty the rooms?
You clear small items and electronics and the crew moves larger furniture; pianos and full cabinets are usually excluded.
Why do the boards sit in the house for days first?
Wood and some vinyl need to adjust to room temperature and humidity, or they can gap or buckle after install.
