Painting Estimate Template
Painting quotes are won on prep. Say how many coats, which paint, and what preparation is included, because a cheap quote with one coat and no filling is not the same job.

What to put on the quote
- Rooms or elevations, and wall, ceiling and trim areas.
- Paint brand, product line, sheen and number of coats.
- Preparation included and what counts as extra repair.
- Colour approval and touch-up policy after completion.
Common mistakes
- Not stating the number of coats.
- Treating major plaster repair as normal prep.
- Starting before the client signs off the colour.
Deposit, balance and validity
Deposit 20–30% to book dates and buy paint, balance on completion. Estimate valid for 30 days; exterior work is weather-dependent and dates may move.
Questions people ask
One coat or two?
Two finish coats are standard for a colour change. Write it either way.
Who supplies the paint?
Say if paint is included and which brand; if the client supplies it, your warranty may be limited.
What about weather delays?
For exterior work, note that dates may move for rain without penalty.
