Demolition Estimate Template
Demolition estimates are sent by wrecking contractors and remodelers before a tear-down or gut job. The money is in what leaves the site: say how many loads you expect, what gets recycled, and what happens if the walls or the ground hide something nobody saw at the walkthrough.
No sign-up. Totals, tax and deposit are worked out for you; print it or save it as a PDF.

What to put on the quote
- Building type, stories and floor area the price is based on, plus what stays: slab, footings, trees, a shared fence.
- Disposal: number of loads or dumpster size, what is recycled, and that hazardous material is excluded until surveyed.
- Who requests utility disconnects and files the demolition permit, and whether permit fees are in the price.
- Site protection: dust control, working hours, street parking, and damage to sidewalks or neighboring property.
- How buried items found during work are handled: old foundations, tanks, debris fill.
Common mistakes
- Pricing from a drive-by and missing a second roof layer or a basement full of plaster.
- Folding disposal into the area price, then eating the extra loads when the debris weighs more than expected.
- Leaving underground surprises off the estimate, so an old oil tank or footing turns into an argument.
- Starting before the hazardous-material survey results are back.
Deposit, balance and validity
Deposit 25% on signing to schedule the crew and equipment; 50% when the structure is down and the balance after final haul-off and site cleanup. Buried tanks, extra foundations or hazardous material found during work are priced as a change order before removal. Estimate valid for 30 days.
Questions people ask
Will you take out the concrete slab and footings too?
Only if the estimate says so. Slab and footing removal is its own line because it adds machine time and several loads.
Who shuts off gas, water and power?
Each utility disconnects its own line. We tell you when to request it and do not start until they confirm; the estimate says who books it.
Can salvaged materials bring the price down?
Sometimes. Fixtures, metal or timber with resale value can be credited, and the credit is written as a line rather than promised verbally.
How long does a house tear-down take?
A single-family wood-frame house usually comes down in one to three days, with hauling and cleanup adding a few more. Permits and weather move the start date more than the work does.
