Hardscaping Estimate Template
Hardscaping estimates cover the built part of the yard: concrete, walls, fences, carports. Most callbacks come from what sits under the surface, so spell out excavation depth, base, reinforcement and where the spoil goes, not only the square footage of the finished slab.

What to put on the quote
- Areas and lengths on a simple site sketch: slab, wall face, fence run, with finished heights.
- Concrete thickness, strength, rebar or mesh, base depth, control joints and finish (broom, exposed aggregate).
- Drainage: slope direction, where the water goes, and any drains or channels included.
- Products by brand and color for carport, fence and gates, and who picks them.
- Excavation, spoil haul-off, utility locating, and any permit or HOA approval the owner arranges.
Common mistakes
- Pricing the slab area and forgetting the excavation and base underneath.
- Building a wall without writing down that the owner marked the property line, then the neighbor disputes it.
- Pouring without agreeing the slope, so water runs toward the garage.
Deposit, balance and validity
Deposit 30% on signing to order materials and book the concrete; 40% after the client checks forms and rebar, balance on completion. Weather can move a pour date. Layout changes after forming are priced before work continues. Estimate valid for 30 days.
Questions people ask
How thick should a driveway be?
Four inches with reinforcement is common for cars; heavier vehicles need more. The estimate states the thickness so bids compare fairly.
Who finds out where my property line is?
The owner confirms it, usually from a survey. We build to the line you mark and note that on the estimate.
Why is soil removal a separate line?
The amount depends on how deep we dig and how far we haul it. Keeping it separate shows exactly what you pay for.
