Handyman Estimate Template
Handyman work is a list of small jobs, so the estimate rests on a minimum charge, an hourly rate after it and materials on top. Write out the task list the customer gave you with a time guess for each, so the "while you are here" jobs on the day have a price before they start.
No sign-up. Totals, tax and deposit are worked out for you; print it or save it as a PDF.
Free download (no sign-up): Excel / Word
This estimate as a file you can fill in and send: the line items below, with amounts, tax and the total worked out by formulas.
How to use this file

- Put in your business details and the client, then replace the example lines and prices with your own. In Excel, amounts, tax and the total update as you type.

What to put on the quote
- The task list, one line each, with an estimated time.
- What the minimum charge covers and how time is billed after it (per hour or per half hour).
- Materials: who buys them, receipts, and any markup.
- Work not taken on: new wiring, gas, pipe work inside walls, and anything a licensed trade must do.
- Removal of packaging and old fixtures, and the trip fee outside the service area.
Common mistakes
- No minimum charge, so a 20-minute job costs you the morning.
- Adding jobs on the day without writing them down, then disputing the time at the end.
- Taking on electrical or plumbing work that should go to a licensed electrician or plumber.
Deposit, balance and validity
Jobs of half a day or more take a 25% deposit to book the day; shorter jobs are paid on completion. The minimum charge covers the first 2 hours, and tasks added on site are written onto this estimate before they start and billed at the hourly rate. Cancellation with less than 24 hours notice is charged the trip fee. Estimate valid for 30 days.
Questions people ask
Is it worth calling you for one small job?
The minimum charge applies either way, so group small tasks into one visit: a few shelves, a sticking door and a smoke alarm fit into two hours.
Do you bring the materials?
Screws, anchors and caulk, yes. Larger parts are bought with receipts and listed here, or you can supply them yourself.
Can you replace a faucet or a light fixture?
A like-for-like swap, yes. New circuits or new pipe runs are passed to a licensed electrician or plumber.
