Music Production Quote Template
An original track is quoted in stages: demo, arrangement, mix, master. Whether the client is an artist, a game studio or an ad agency, the rights line matters as much as the music, so say whether they buy the rights outright or license the track for a stated use.
No sign-up. Totals, tax and deposit are worked out for you; print it or save it as a PDF.

What to put on the quote
- Length, genre, reference tracks and what the music is for (release, ad, game loop, video background).
- Stages and approval points (demo, arrangement, mix, master) and the revisions included at each.
- Deliverables: WAV and MP3 master, instrumental, stems, loop points or cut-downs (15, 30, 60 seconds).
- Rights: which one this quote is (buyout, or a licence for a medium, territory and term) and whether you may show the track in your portfolio.
- Who pays for session players, vocalists, sample libraries and studio time.
Common mistakes
- No demo stage, so the client hears the direction only after the full mix is done.
- Leaving the rights line blank, then hearing the web jingle in a national TV campaign with no new fee.
- Unlimited mix revisions, one for every pair of headphones the client tries.
- Building the track on a sample pack whose licence does not cover the client’s use.
Deposit, balance and validity
50% on order to start the demo, balance on delivery of the master; the rights take effect once the balance is paid. Two revisions are included at the demo and the mix stage; a change of direction after the demo is approved is quoted as new work. Quote valid for 30 days.
Questions people ask
Do I own the song once I pay?
Only if the quote says buyout. A licence lets you use it for the listed purpose and period.
Can I get the stems?
Yes if they are listed as a deliverable. Stems let another engineer remix the track, so they are often a separate line.
How long does one track take?
About one to two weeks from demo to master, longer when live musicians or a vocalist must be booked.
Can you write something like a famous song?
We can follow the mood and tempo of a reference, not copy its melody or recognisable parts.
