Network Cabling Quote Template

Structured cabling bids get compared per drop, so the price has to say what a drop includes: cable to the patch panel, jack, faceplate, termination, test and label. Office moves and fit-outs add ceiling access, night work and building rules that a per-drop number never shows on its own.

What to put on the quote

  • Drop count per room, cable category and jacket rating (plenum or riser), and the jack color scheme.
  • Pathway: open ceiling, drop ceiling, raceway or conduit, and who lifts and replaces ceiling tiles.
  • Where the work ends: patch panel and rack, and whether switches, Wi-Fi access points or ISP equipment are in scope.
  • Test deliverables: a certification report per drop, labeled faceplates and a floor plan with drop numbers.
  • Working hours, building access, elevator booking and whether abandoned cable is removed.

Common mistakes

  • Pricing per drop without looking above the ceiling, then finding a hard lid or fire-rated walls to penetrate.
  • Leaving out labels and the test report, which the client's IT team asks for at handover.
  • Assuming daytime work in an occupied office that only allows nights and weekends.
  • Not saying that old cable stays in the ceiling unless removal is quoted.

Deposit, balance and validity

30% deposit to start and order material, balance within 15 days of handover with the test report. Drops added on site are billed at the per-drop rate once the client approves them by email. Quote valid for 30 days.

Questions people ask

Cat6 or Cat6A?

Cat6 covers most offices. Cat6A costs more per drop but is the safer choice for 10 Gb links, new Wi-Fi access points and long runs; we can price both.

Why is testing a separate line?

Certification proves each drop meets its category and gives you a report to keep. Some small jobs skip it, so it is shown on its own.

Will you set up the switches and Wi-Fi too?

Cabling ends at the patch panel. Equipment setup can be added as a separate line or left to your IT provider.
